Diseases which are caused by your occupation (Occupational Diseases) are covered by Workers Compensation in South Carolina.  An Occupational Disease must be linked to your employment.  Some states are making sure that occupations which make employees susceptible to COVID-19 have a path to coverage under their Workers Compensation Statutes.  New rules for several states include specific evidentiary requirements for proving the disease and its link to your employment.  South Carolina, so far, has not provided direction for this issue.  If you are in an occupation which requires direct contact with infected individuals, such as nursing or direct public contact, and you are diagnosed with the virus, it is worth having an attorney review the facts of the case.
